1. Paulo Diogo
This is very bizarre injury. Paulo Diogo was too happy when assisted for a goal of Swiss football (soccer) side Servette and jumped on the fence near the crowd to celebrate with the fans. Unfortunately, his ring of the recent wedding was caught on the fence, cutting of his finger. Later doctors had unsuccessful to reattach his finger on.
2. Chris Hanson
In 2003 Jacksonville Jaguars head coach tried to motivate his players with the line “keep chopping wood” and players had to take a swipe with an ax in the large wood in the locker room everyday. Chris Hanson intended to do his everyday “homework,” but he managed to lose balance and swiped deep in his leg. He was transported to the nearest hospital immediately. Fortunately, it wasn’t his kicking leg that was injured.
3. Glenallen Hill
Glenallen Hill has arachnophobia, which means that he has fear of spiders. He has a great fear, actually. One night he had a nightmare in which an eight legged monster was chasing him. While sleeping he jumped out the bed, cut his foot on a glass table and f ell down a flight of stairs. Opposite team’s fans now make jokes of his accidents, calling him “Spiderman.”
4. Santiago Canisarez
Spaniard Santiago Canisarez was one of the world’s finest goalkeepers before the start of the FIFA World Cup in 2002. However, he couldn’t help his team mates in Korea nad Japan. While he was in the national team training base in Jerez, Spain, he had a shaving that made him miss the tournament. The bottle of aftershave fell down and a shard of the glass penetrated into his flash of his right foot.
5. Lionel Simmons
The slogan of the NBA League is “I Love This Game.” However, Sacramento Kings’ player from 90’s, Lionel Simmons loved Tetris more. He loved it so much; he even got injured while trying to reach another level. The diagnosis was wrist tendonitis. Simmons was named for “Player of the Week” then, but he missed the next to weeks due to the bizarre injury.
6. Marty Cordova
The MLB Rookie of the Year from 1995 was obsessed with having golden tan. He didn’t want to spend days in summer getting it, so he decided to catch some rays in solarium. Unfortunately, he fell asleep in the process and his skin was red. His burns were so bad that doctors ordered him to stay away from the direct sunlight.
7. Sammy Sosa
Sammy Sosa sneezed twice and injured his back in the process. It’s that simple. He was entering into PETCO Park visitor’s clubhouse when he sneezed, even took a chair for support, and he had to take a break from playing. There were a great number of jokes about this accident.
8. Drew Gooden
It’s surprising what actually leg hair follicles could do. NBA big man Drew Gooden had a bad experience as they made him break his strike of 83 consecutive starts for Orlando Magic. To be cured, he had to receive a treatment that includes a direst intravenous injection of antibiotics. After 72 hours he was healthy.
9. David Beckham
World’s biggest sports superstar David Beckham was injured in very bizarre fashion in 2003. His club Manchester United lost the FA Cup game on home turf against Arsenal with 2-0, which made legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson angry. While expressing his emotions after the game, the Scotsman kicked a football boot that finished in Beckham’s head, right above the right eye. He needed stitches to recovery. He left Manchester short after the incident.
10. Adam Eaton
Texas Rangers’ Adam Eaton wanted to see a happy end and bought a DVD. When he was trying to remove the annoying plastic around the new DVD with a knife he was unfortunate to stab himself in the stomach. He didn’t end tragically, just with few stitches in the emergency room.
