5 Really Weird Celebrity TV Ads !!!!

Celebrity endorsement deals are nothing strange. Promoting a product in the odd television advert comes naturally when you hit celebrity status: they promote their image, market the product that sponsor them, and get paid – everyone’s a winner. However, there are some celebrities who may regret getting themselves associated with certain products. Actually, not so much the products, rather the ads they had to feature in to promote those products. Embarrassing is one word I guess you could use…

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger

This Japanese advert featuring Arnie is quite bizarre. Actually, scrap that, it’s down right scary! I cannot imagine how such sinister laughter can persuade consumers to go out and buy this product. During the 90s though Arnie featured in 30 Japanese commercials whilst he was at his peak. They ranged from canned coffee to noodles, and in this instance a health drink made by a chemical company!

2. Duran Duran

Another Japanese advert, this time featuring Duran Duran as bobble-headed puppets playing a gig to dolls…how on Earth this relates to whiskey, which is what the advert is for, only the ad men know!

3. Tiger Woods

After all his recent controversies, Nike have not dropped Tiger Woods like so many of his other sponsors. Instead, they have released this new advert that features recordings of Earl Woods’ voice, the golfer’s late father. In the bizarre ad Earl Woods speaks to his son and addresses the recent sex scandal. Very brave of Nike and Tiger, but weird all the same.

4. Hulk Hogan

Here’s a question. What do you get if you cross a popular wrestler, a baby and an air conditioner. The answer…a Japanese advert of course! Why Hulk Hogan is made to sing a lullaby to a baby we’ll probably never know, but it certainly makes for great viewing. I’d definitely want to order a BIGFLOW after watching this.

5. Madonna

Ok, so we’re wearing out the Japanese adverts here but hell they’re funny! And original! Madonna as a samurai, who would have ever thought it. To make it even more laughable, she’s made to say the words “I’m pure” to complete the advert. Oxymoron anyone?
