Summer’s almost over, and it’s back to school for some of us. Here are 6 strangest school courses you wish your school offered:
1. Walking
Center College in Kentucky has a class on “The Art of Walking”. The teacher takes the students around the college, teaching them to appreciate how to walk properly. He claims walking helps understand the “intelligible and sensual design in inner and outer nature”.
2. Super Smash Bros Theory
Oberlin University in Ohio offers a class on Super Smash Bros, where students learn about the theories behind the popular game–and get to play it for half the lesson.
3. Superheroes
UC Irwin gives a course on superheroes and real life science, which sounds pretty cool. Want to know why you’ll never be able to leap tall buildings, or what gamma rays would really do to you? Sign up.
4. Star Trek Philosophy
Georgetown University’s philosophy department has a course that introduces metaphysics and epistemology–through Star Trek. Students analyze the TV show, and discuss the issues in it.
5. Eating
Loyola college believes the link between God and eating should be explored. They offer a course where students are taught the religious background behind eating. Who cares, as long as you get food, right?
6. Dating
University of Sioux Falls believes a course that teaches students how to date will “change their lives”. Dating tips, reading signs, and knowing when and how to break up are in the course.
