Some people have gone to some extreme lengths in proposing to their partners. Not since the days of Fairy Tale when the charming knight would slay the dragon then propose to his beautiful princess has their been such originality in the ideas that people have come up with. Not only have they proposed in some of the coolest ways but these people remembered to tape the action too so that the whole world could share their joy (hopefully!) when their partner says yes to the big question. So, here are eight of the coolest wedding proposals caught on camera.
1. The Man Who Proposed in a TV Commercial
Rand wanted to propose to his girlfriend Geraldine in a unique and romantic way. Being a huge NFL fan Rand decided that buying ad space for a 30-second commercial would be the best way possible. So he created his own website and with his knowledge of search engine optimization gained a lot of attention to his idea. His idea came to fruition in 2006 and in order to buy some ad space during the 2007 NFL he would need to raise $2.5 million. He put forward a lot of his own cash and through generous donators raised $85K. This still wasn’t enough for the NFL but it was enough to purchase local ad time during Geraldine’s favourite TV show Veronica Mars. Watch the video of his commercial then watch her reaction below.
2. The Man Who Proposed Through an Art Exhibition
George chose to propose to his girlfriend Sara via an art exhibition that he set up. He spent a total of 24 hours constructing a 3D programme first then laser cut foam core to create the different pieces that would form the words, “Will You Marry Me.” As if that wasn’t enough George even hired an actor to play the role of the artist called Serge Gandaora, which is an anagram for George and Sara. He even named the exhibition My Early Muir Owl – an anagram for Will You Marry Me.
3. The Summer Camp Counselor Proposal
In June 2006 for the first time their history the OU FCA Summer Camp jr. high boys challenged the jr. high girls to participate in the greatest game of “Gorilla, Man, Gun” ever played. What Ali didn’t know however was that this was her boyfriend’s elaborate plan to propose to her. Everybody was in on what was known as Operation Happily Ever After and it clearly worked because Ali said yes.
4. The Airport Proposal
In New York’s LaGuardia Airport Elaina Clark was waiting for her boyfriend Zachary McNeal to arrive from his plane which had just landed. As the crew and travellers each departed they one-by-one handed the unsuspecting woman a red rose. Much to her confusement stranger after stranger approached her individually and parted with their gift of the flower. Unbeknown to her pilot McNeal had shown her picture to everyone on the flight and gave them each a single red rose to give to her in a romantic effort to win her hand in marriage.
5. The Weatherman Proposal
CBS Weatherman Matt Laubhan proposed to his ABC anchorwoman girlfriend Emily Leonard on live TV. Luckily Laubhan used to work at the ABC station so he was able to get all of the crew involved. So when Leonard thought she was cutting to her sports correspondent she was stunned to see her boyfriend appear and talk to the nation about their relationship. He then proceeded to kneel in front her with the engagement ring as she sat gobsmacked behind her newsdesk.
6. Sand Key Bridge Proposal
In Clearwater, Florida Rich had all of his friends and family help him create a giant sign for the love of his life Shelly. The 10×40′ banner was hung from the Sand Key bridge so whilst Rich took his girl out for the day on his boat they eventually approached the message that he had been waiting to ask her. She shouted yes, which was met with loud cheers from the crowd that had gathered.
7. Private Plane Proposal
Patrick took his girlfriend Johanne out for a private plane flight one romantic day but little did she know she Patrick had a surprise in store for her. From the air she saw the big question on the ground in a huge message dedicated to her. Patrick pulled out the ring and to her bewilderment asked in Frencg, his mouther tongue, “Tu veux-tu?” which means Do you want to? To stunned for words Johanne could only nod her acceptance and shed tears of joy.
8. The Saxophonist Proposal
Michelly spent her 25th birthday with family and friends in her native Brazil. Sadly for her though her boyfriend Jeff couldn’t make it. But Jeff had a birthday surprise for her like no other. He flew to Curitiba, Brazil on her birthday and showed up at her party dressed in a tuxedo and playing his saxophone. As if that wasn’t a romantic surprise enough for Michelly’s birthday Jeff had an even bigger surprise hidden in the bell of his horn…
