Call of Duty: Black Ops, he seventh installment in the Call of Duty series, is predicted to become greatest game of year. The game has only been on sale a few hours but a price war has already broken out.
The action is set during the Cold War, from the 1960s onwards, with missions in Vietnam and the former Soviet Union. The game is rated M for “mature”, with drug references, blood, intense violence and language.
The game is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS. The Xbox 360 and PS3 console versions retail in three different versions with Standard Edition for $60, the Hardened Edition for $80 and the Prestige Edition for $150. The Nintendo Wii version retails for $50 and the Nintendo DS version for $29.99 and the PC version retails for $60. The game is also available in 3-D but you need to buy the, rather expensive, television.
“From the beginning, we focused our entire studio on creating the most immersive Call of Duty experience ever. Black Ops delivers an epic and cinematic single player experience, an incredibly deep multiplayer offering, and endless hours of co-op fun with Zombies.” Mark Lamia, Treyarch Studio Head, said in a statement.
Analysts are predicting the new version of game will exceed that success and pre-orders have broken all records.
