The algae and mosses on the bottom of  river make it so beautiful. During the wet season Caño Cristales flows fast and deep denying them the sun they need. During the dry season there’s no enough water for life. But in the mid season, when the river level is just right, a lot of species of algae and mosses bloom in spectacular variety of colors. Thousands shades of yellow, red, green, blue and black can be enjoyed.

This is a must-see destination, but the most colorful part of the river is in great wilderness and is not accessible by road. Adventurists can make their way by foot or by riding horses, making their experience more exciting.
