Fox Networks and Cablevision announced they have resolved a fee dispute that blacked out Fox channels and the World Series for Cablevision’s 3 million customers, who have been without some of their favorite shows and baseball playoff games for two weeks.
The signals were restored Saturday before the first pitch of Game 3 of the World Series between the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants.
Cablevision had been without Fox signals since October 16 because the two companies could not agree on new contract terms. The new contract covers three local Fox and MyNetworkTV stations and three small cable channels, Fox Business Network, Nat Geo Wild and Fox Deportes. Cablevision released a statement that said it was agreeing to pay an “unfair price” for the stations.
“In the absence of any meaningful action from the FCC, Cablevision has agreed to pay Fox an unfair price for multiple channels of its programming including many in which our customers have little or no interest,” Cablevision said. It also added that it “conceded because it does not think its customers should any longer be denied the Fox programs they wish to see.”
