A man from Northern Ireland labeled a “dangerous schizophrenic” who escaped from a psychiatric hospital has been found working as a German teacher at a school in southern France.
26-year-old Lewis Alexander Mawhinney was interned indefinitely at a psychiatric ward after he had attacked a fellow call center trainee with a knife three years earlier.
According to Reuters, the man went to France where he was taken on in January as a German teacher at two secondary schools in Dignes les Bains. Fortunately, school officials discovered his past and dismissed him.
Mawhinney is now at a hospital in southeast France. The weird thing is that he was apparently under the delusion that he belonged to Britain’s MI5 domestic intelligence agency. And the weirdest thing is Mawhinney would sometimes wear gloves in order not to leave finger prints.
His strange behaviours attracted the attention of his superiors who contacted police.
Although the students had not complained about their teacher’s odd ways, he is now being held at a psychiatric unit in Digne.
