The Nexus Two, which was designed and manufactured by Samsung will be officially unveiled November 8 at a pumped-up media event in Times Square. The device will be a flagship phone for the latest version 2.3 of the Android operating system and will undoubtedly set the course of the next generation of mobile Google.
‘Android and Me’ said that Samsung produced the hardware and Google Inc. developed the software on the phones.
The details about Nexus Two from earlier reports suggest it will have a 4-inch AMOLED or Super AMOLED display, a 1.2 GHz processor, 5 MP external camera and 1.3 MP front-facing camera, as well as 16 GB of internal storage and 512 MB of RAM. The device may be the first to have native video chat available through an updated Google Talk app.
Andy Rubin, Google’s head of Android development said that Google was trying to find ways to bring unlocked Android phones to the U.S. market. “Making unlocked phones available in the U.S. is still a possibility. Whether that’s simply acquired only online or through traditional retail channels – that’s what got canceled. So we have to decide how to make unlocked phones available in the U.S,” he said this month in an interview with PCMag.com.
